About Black Rain ( press release Esoteric-Cherry Red-EANTCD1084)
Black Rain is FoF's (Fish on Friday) fifth and arguably strongest album up to date. As usual the production is flawless and the songs and arrangements are well thought-out.
The band, featuring Nick Beggs, Frank Van Bogaert, Marty Townsend and Marcus Weymaere, sounds tighter and punchier than ever before.
As a response to the positive reactions to Lula Beggs' vocal contributions to FoF's previous album "Quiet Life", Lula was given a bigger guest role, now appearing on four of the eleven tracks on the album.
Black Rain, comes close (it isn't entirely) to being a concept album about the fast changing, (for some way too fast), world we live in...Our changing environment, refugees fleeing from war and global political madness. Although the album certainly has its dark sides, there is also room for sun and happiness.
As always with FoF's artwork, the album is packaged in a beautiful 6-panel digipack with a 16 page booklet designed by Michal Karcz, which truly compliments the music to make every aspect of Black Rain a true work of art and an album for our times.

FoF anno 2020
Black Rain, FoF's fifth album will be released on April 17th by Esoteric-Cherry Red. We've worked over 2 years on this album and feel very proud about it. The songs are strong (we dare to say ourselves :-) and the band has never sounded that tight. Hope you'll all like it.
FoF (Fish on Friday) anno 2019
William Beckers left the band, FoF continues working on a new album.
The first batch of songs for the fifth album have now been recorded and mixed, with Lula Beggs and Theo Travis again guest starring.
Esoteric-Cherry Red,the record label , is very happy with them, "the tracks are really good. Just as I have come to expect from FoF!" (Mark Powell-label manager) .
So this summer will see the band recording the next batch of songs.
Fish on Friday (FoF) anno 2017
Esoteric Antenna is proud to present “Quiet Life”, Fish on Friday’s stunning fourth album.
FoF’s line up has been stable since their second album “Airborne” featuring UK’s Bass virtuoso Nick Beggs, Californian guitarist Marty Townsend, Belgian Keyboard player-guitarist-vocalist and producer Frank Van Bogaert, keyboard player William Beckers and drummer Marcus Weymaere.
The band has had an ever growing following since their 2010 debut album, delivering Prog with a poppy edge, of a quality rarely found these days.
It’s the combination of top notch song writing and awesome musicianship that make FoF stand out of the crowd.
They even attracted Alan Parsons attention, who invited them to work with him at Abbey Road studio’s. Alan produced one song on which he is also guest starring as backing vocalist .
Among other guest stars are Theo Travis (Soft machine, Steven Wilson), John Mitchell (Arena, Kino, Lonely robot) and Lula Beggs , Nick Beggs’ daughter.
Lula, who was chosen best independant female vocalist 2016 in the UK, just shines in two beautiful duets with Frank, the title track Quiet Life and Sweet Love.
The album features 10 beautifully crafted Proggy songs of the highest production quality.
We at Esoteric, really believe it to be their best yet.
We don’t like to compare Fish on Friday with other bands ‘cause they certainly have their own signature but for those who have never heard of FoF and are into The Alan Parsons Project, Blackfield, Genesis…join the following.

Fish on Friday (FoF) anno 2014
Esoteric Antenna is pleased to announce the release of “GODSPEED”, the new studio album by FISH ON FRIDAY. The album is the third release by the band who formed in 2009 when Belgian Producer and musician Frank van Bogaert and keyboard player William Beckers established FISH ON FRIDAY as a studio-based Progressive Rock project. The band’s debut album, “Shoot the Moon” was released in 2010 and saw the band augmented by Californian guitarist Marty Townsend and drummer Marcus Weymaere. The album’s melodic Progressive approach soon drew very favourable critical stylistic comparisons with the progressive side of Alan Parsons Project.
The reaction to “Shoot the Moon” was encouraging enough for the band to embark on performing several live shows in Belgium, before embarking on their second album, “Airborne”, which gained a wider audience and sales by receiving airplay on mainstream Belgian radio alongside specialist Progressive Rock stations globally. “Airborne” also featured the virtuoso bass player Nick Beggs (Steven Wilson band, Steve Hackett band, Lifesigns) on the track “Welcome”, an experience that led to Nick officially becoming a member of Fish on Friday for the band’s new (and arguably most Progressive) album “Godspeed”. This stunning album features a grasp of melody on songs such as “Callin’ Planet Home”, “Just a Nightmare”, “Ghost Song”, “Sanctuary” and the album’s epic ten minute title track. “Godspeed” also features a special guest, Theo Travis, the virtuoso saxophonist and flautist noted for his work with Steven Wilson, Soft Machine Legacy, Robert Fripp, Gong, Bill Nelson et al. All in all “Godspeed” is a Progressive rock album of fine songs, excellent musicianship and is the eagerly anticipated next step in the story of Fish on Friday.
